October Art Fun at Kate Studio, Bellingham

Happy October!  With the colorful, turning leaves and fresh bite in the air that this month brings, Kate Studio is a warm and cozy retreat to create your art in.   Here are some of the classes and workshops we are offering:

October Schedule of Classes

Thursday, October 16th, 7-9:15 pm                                      Cost: $15 

Day of the Dead decorated skull.   Following the traditions of Mexico, we will decorate a paper mache skull with paint, sharpies, glitter and other bling to use during Halloween and the first 2 days of November, when Latin Americans honor those who have passed on.  All materials provided.   (Whatcom Women Meet-up - reserved Thurs. Oct. 15th)

Tuesdays, October 14 – Dec. 16,           10-11:30 am             Cost: $90

Introduction to acrylic painting.   Learn about canvasses, paints, design principals and begin painting without fear!   All paints and brushes will be provided; canvasses can be purchased in advance or at Kate Studio.  No class Nov. 11^th.

Thursday, October 23^rd & Friday, October 24^th           7-9:00 pm     Cost: $40

Multi-Media Collage on Bristol Paper

Join us in this 2-week class as we mix our media – paints, glue, tissue papers, and specialty collage papers to make beautiful backgrounds on the first class, then let’s doodle and paint favorite inspirational messages on the backgrounds the second day, using paint, pastels and markers.

 

Sunday, November 2nd, 2:00 - 5:00 pm                             Cost: $75

Glass Fusing Fun. Gather your friends for a night of fusing fun! Learn about the fundamentals of glass cutting and fusing, how to use a kiln and create beautiful art pieces while enjoying a night with friends. 

Students will create a 5" plate, a pair of earrings and 2 pendants, each using different materials such as frit, stringers, dichroic and irridized glass. They will also learn how to load their work into the kiln, program it and begin the fusing process. The class Includes use of all materials, including glass and tools necessary to create your masterpieces as well as kiln fusing time & handouts. Later, students can return for a short class to glue bails on their pendants and create post or hook earrings. (or Kath can do it for you)
